Please note that accommodation is not included and will have to be arranged separately. Once a deposit is received, Luisa will be in touch with details of what area we will be in each evening and an itinerary to allow you to plan where you will be staying each evening. These tours are limited to 7 people and cost per day rather than per person.

The Geology of the Scottish Highlands Private tour (1 day)

Picking up/dropping off from Glasgow City Centre, leave at 8am and return for around 7-8pm.

  • The Metasedimentary rocks of Loch Lomond

  • Glencoe’s Extinct Volcano - Learn about how Magmas form and evolve

  • Fort William for lunch with a stop off at Treasure’s of the Earth Museum (fee included in tour price)

  • The Great Glen Fault, Loch Ness

  • The Grampian Highlands - Various stops along the route looking at the Geology of the metamorphic rocks that represent the old mountain chain that once

The Geology of the Isle of Skye, Scotland private tour (2 to 5 days)

Picking up/dropping off from Glasgow City Centre, leave at 8am and will include visiting the following places:

  • Travel to Skye (5 hours) with stops on the way up at Glencoe and that

  • Discover the volcanic centre, active 65 million years ago, that once fed the isle of Skye Volcano - The black (Gabbro) and the red (Granite) Cullen mountains

  • The lavas and magmas in and around the Fairy Pools

  • Elgol Limestone and sedimentary features

  • The old man of Storr (an ancient landslide of igneous and sedimentary rocks)

  • Basaltic Columns at Kilt Rock

  • The Dinosaur Footprints at Staffin Bay and limestone that represent an old marine environment from the Jurassic period

  • Fossil hunting along an old Jurassic beach

Picking up/dropping off from Glasgow City Centre, leave at 6am and will include visiting the following places:

  • Travel to Oban to get Ferry (1 hour) (ferry ticket included in price)

  • The Mull Volcanic Centre

  • Lavas of the Tertiary period

  • The fossilized trees

  • The Jurassic and Cretaceous period

  • Carsaig Arches

  • Ardlanish Beach - The metamorphic rocks of the Moine supergroup

  • The Ross of Mull Granite - The Caledonian Orogeny (Major tectonic event)

  • Discover the New red sandstone, deposied during the permian period when scotland was covered in a desert

  • The sedimentary and volcaniclastic rocks of the carboniferous period

  • The old red sandstone deposited during the Devonian period - The sediments from the mountains that once belonged in scotland

  • Glen Sannox - The highland boundary fault, Dalradian Supergroup and Granitic magma chamber that makes up the mountains in Arran

  • A wee stop at the Rock Stop (North-West highlands geopark)
